Budget in the news (May 6 – 13)

A position paper by Patrick Döring, general secretary of the German liberal party (FDP), proposes a conditionality of payments from the EU’s structural funds on austerity measures in the recipient countries. Furthermore, he suggests to reduce the budget for agricultural policy in favour of growth-enhancing measures like investments in infrastructure.

More about the position paper can be found here.

Similarly, a comment by Stefan Kornelius raises the idea that a growth stimulus package could be realized by replacing EU’s subsidies on agriculture.

The comment can be found on süddeutsche.de.
